The word 'Hu' is sometimes used as a gender-neutral term for Allah or even a pronoun for God. You say it by rounding your lips, pushing air from your abdomen, and engaging the deepest part of your vocal cords. The word is experienced as a warm, pronounced exhale: the breath of existence. This sculpture is of a volcanic crater ring, cracked into pieces but still unified, like the Earth's crust. In the center: a void–like the rounding of your lips.
